Creating Your Character - Writing your Physical Description

A physical description tells others what you look like. It is your appearance that provides a first impression to other characters and gives a representation of the race to which you belong. You see a person's description by using the "look" command and looking at a character.

A good physical description contains information relating to a character's size(towering, tall, small stature, etc,); build (muscled, skeletal, medium built, et.); body covering (skin, fur, scales, tentacles, etc.); facial characteristics including hair, eyes, nose, mouth (or lack thereof). Distinguishing features such scars, tattoos, deformities, and defining clothing, weapon or accessories add depth to the character's physical image.

A physical description must be completed by level 5. It must be at least six lines long and be relatively free of grammar and spelling errors. Take pride in your character by taking enough time to make sure your English is readable and interesting.

DO NOT include actions of any kind in your description.
DO NOT include any reactions to your presence in your description.
For example:
- You see Grog emerge from the forest and grin at you.
IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Grog's bulging muscles send a wave of fear through you.
IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
However, for example:
- Grog is clad in camouflaged animal skins, showing his affinity for the outdoors. His bulging muscles are truly powerful; they ripple with every step he takes.

IS ACCEPTABLE AND ENCOURAGED
DO NOT include anything about your philosophy or alignment in your physical description-- that is to be placed in your psychological description instead. This will be covered in the next section of the chapter.

IMPORTANT TO CHANGELINGS: You need a physical description for each of your forms: normal, bat, wolf, bear. When you receive the ability to shift into a new form, write a description for it.

Here are the in-game commands for writing your physical description:

'desc showlines' displays your current physical description with line numbers
