Creating Your Character - Selecting Your Class

A "Class" is a characters profession. A "Warrior" for example, would be a class. A full list of classes and the skilles/spells they are able to use can be located on the darkmists webpage: here. Unfortunately there is not much guidance I can give you on selecting your class. It's all personal preference.

I can tell you that selecting a class that can be "neutral" in alignment and that can cast the spell "Identify" will make learning the game easier as you progress. This is because neutral characters can join with good or evil characters to level up with as compared to a good character can only group with a good or neutral. Identify is good to have because it allows you to see the attributes of an item. If you had 2 helmets and wanted to know which was better you could simply cast the identify spell on each of them to see how much armor and other attributes they provide. The only other way to compare them is to wear each of them and check your "score" card each time to see how they each affect you.

Lastly, you'll notice that when you actually start the game your will not be selecting your class first. I have put class first in the guide for the reason that some classes are alignment specific. Necromancers can only be evil, Paladins only good, ect. Although it has no impact on the game in my opinion it is better to select your class first to see what races and alignments are available to you.
