Excerpt from the writings of Dr. Biggles "Big" Hardbottom, Glyndane Research Institute, Office of Geology:

"Deep under the dunes of the Sands of Sorrow, a species of insects have apparently toiled for countless years evolving and building ever more complex societies. Recently, these creatures have begun to appear wandering to the overworld, and interacting with the other sentient races of Thera.

Antfolk come in an array of different colors, depending on the colony they originate from, but most often have been brown or red in color. Antfolk resemble an upright walking ant, with 2 primary arms, 2 vestigial arms, and 2 legs. They have pincers for a mouth, and their bodies have formed hard carapaces that provide protection. They seem extremely aware of their surroundings, as a result of their compound eyes.

Many appear to be warriors and rangers, though I am unsure if this is the extent of the roles in their colonies.

I will continue to expand on my findings, as my research continues."

Update: 6:12 pm, Day of the Moon, 15th the Month of the Spring, in the year 134.

"Fascinating. The antfolk appear to have begun to integrate themselves into the Theran community of races exceptionally well exceedingly quickly. I have observed them in many instances working side by side a litany of adventurers to improve themselves and their standards of existence above ground.

Further information becomes available regarding their physical characteristics. It appears their vestigial arms, previously thought to be useless, are actually used in assisting the race to support and carry greater amounts of weight than would seem normal for a different race with comparable strength. Their agility and speed seems to put them on par with the Dark-elves, also a subterranean race (research followup: correlation here?). Yet, their intelligence seems highly lacking behind the Drow, and is more akin to a giant from the overworld species.
