The following is an excerpt from the Book of Hope and Perseverance:
Many believe that the matter of hope is an easily explained thing that can be
construed in ways too numerous to give credit to such beliefs. This, however, is not
so. In fact hope itself can pass through those of any ethos and alignment, and yet, it
is not that same hope which we will discuss here. While those of the shadow may
experience a hope born of greed, or lust, or blood, those of the light shall never dwell
in such things. While one might believe that those of the light and shadow are more akin
because both share in hope, they are not so, for those of the darkness dwell in the hope
that makes up nightmares. They dwell in the desire and dream to see a certain outcome, and
then that evil outcome becoming reality. Those whom walk in the light also have dreams yes,
but such dreams are nay the evil incarnation that oft is experienced with the shadow.
Nay, I speak of a hope that is more enduring and more substantial than what can
be realized by any evil entity. The hope of the light is for things that reward not only
themselves, but more often than not others whom are in their lives as well. There is a
commonality, and yet an individuality in those whom walk in the light and hold close to hope.
So then you might ask, how does one define the hope of those of the light? And to that I
answer, 'You need but look upon those whom would give without selfish regard, and speak
with those whom would fight so that life and all good things will go on. Take a moment with
a child, and look through his eyes to see the innocent beauty of the world around him. A
world made up of kindess, love, and compassion. A world touched by the grace of those
whom dwell within it and love it for what it might be. A world of innocence, without sin, nor
torment, nor evil design. The world seen through the eyes of a child. It is for those things
that hope thrives and survives in all of the light. It is at once easy and yet so difficult to define.
Perseverance is the belief that those who have been chosen by their deity will continue
in a state of grace to the end of their lives and will finally be saved at the time of their death.
But then one must explain what grace in this context is. For those whom walk in the light,
grace is not seen as redemption, for their actions in life will see to their redemption.
Rather, grace here is understood to be the blessing of the deities that watch over the light.
It does not mean that all of those whom live in the light will be free from strife, illness, or pain.
But rather it means that they will be given grace and blessings from the heavens above. As
such, perseverance for those whom believe in the faith of Morrbway, means to never give up
on their faith or their religion. Not necessarily to perservere through hard times and good, but
instead rather to persevere in the highs and lows of faith in Morrbway, and never let anything
else come before their religion.
