Circle of Dawn:
Can I get you some tea? You look parched from your journey. I certainly am surprised that someone such as yourself is taking an interest in my life. The life of a Conclave member is not as exciting as everyone seems to think it is! I joined the Conclave a long time ago, having spent my time as an apprentice to Linlehorn Sniverfel, who at that time had a position in the Conclave. Yes, I recall the days before I was an apprentice, when I would help old widow Cleeves by enchanting her rubbish pails to empty themselves, and assist her son as much as I could with his magical studies. But that's what Conclave is all about, isn't it though? Helping others through magic. I think that the best way for us all to be more accepting of magic is by trying to break the stereotype that we're all zombie summoning power mongers! The arcane magic given to me as a result of my membership in the Conclave is not to be used without great care and responsibility, and always for the benefit of mankind. I won't pretend to be a saint, and say I haven't used it offensively in the past, but I am always hopeful that it never comes to that. I find most situations can be handled by talking things out, calming everyone down, and making sure that we all reach a compromise that is acceptable to all parties. I also try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and if I can avoid a situation by not being there during an altercation, that works just as well. Once, in Emerald Forest when I was trying to get some morning dew for a spell, I came across a young ranger who simply would not leave me alone. It seemed he fancied my gold pouch. Well, I understood that if I incinerated him, I'd have an enemy today, as well as the future, so I simply decided to leave and return for my component another time. No real harm done. Would you like some cookies? They're fresh baked and I've heard that the recipe comes from the Lady of Magic herself! As for those silly Crusaders, yes, they are a bit of an annoyance at times, and I have had to teach them a lesson now and again, but in all honesty, I simply believe they are misguided. They are entitled to their opinions, as are all sentient creatures of Thera. The fact that they are so bent on the destruction of magic is proof even more that they are the ones we should focus the most on to change their viewpoint. However, my duty is to the Conclave first and foremost. If they attempt to invade our sanctum, and destroy all our work, then I must stop them.
Circle of Twilight:
My goal is the defense and proliferation of magic. That is from page number one in our tomes. What does that mean to me ye ask? Well, it means to me that I am the first and last line of defense when it comes to ensuring that magic always has a place in this world. Now, thankfully, being a member of Conclave gives me the proper tools to do that. And, just like any tool, there is a proper time and place to use such a thing. I don't actively go seeking trouble, but when trouble finds me, I send it packing! Sure, I'm a reasonable guy; I'll give someone a chance to rethink bothering me, and allow them the chance to move along. However, if someone insists after that chance to make me their next conquest, then I have to send them a small message that it's not appropriate. I AM a member of Conclave after all. Usually when I battle, I pull my punches, giving them a small taste of what's to come if they don't get out of my face and let me get on with my business. If they choose to escalate, then I follow them, increasing my resistance to their offense. After i've wasted enough however, and after they've made themselves a nuisance, then I have to unleash the most powerful magic I know, ensuring that they won't be coming back for more. And really, isn't that what I as a Conclave member need to do? Show that those people behind the spells are really intelligent people, who don't use their spells recklessly? Isn't a better approach to gaining magical acceptance showing the PROPER use of magic? Strong when it's necessary, and weak when it's not? Don't get me wrong, all my magic isn't destructive, and definitely I use it for 'good' purposes when I can, but we shouldn't be afraid to show people the power that magic provides. Certainly that will keep some of the less educated thieves off our backs. As for the Crusaders? If they don't bother me, I won't bother them. That's my primary rule. Sticks and stones my break my bones, but names will never hurt me. That is, so long as they keep things to name calling, heh.
Circle of Night:
What do you want?! Can't you see I'm busy. *sigh* Sometimes I don't know why I do these things for other people. Fine, you can talk to me NOW if you must. Yes, yes, I am a member of Conclave, and don't you forget it! I didn't outwork and outcast all the other apprentices in my guild for nothing. It took me years to finally gain the recommendation of that necromancer master of mine. But now it's all worth it, isn't it? Hehehe. He's dead and I'm a member of the Conclave. Of course I know what we're all about. Why wouldn't I? Do you really believe that because I walk the paths of darkness I can't 'defend and proliferate' magic? I would argue a person like me is EXACTLY what Conclave needs. I'm obviously superior to other sorcerers in my field, and in my opinion, a little ruthlessness is what magic needs these days. Just because my weapon isn't a sword doesn't mean I should just roll over and die for these mundane thieves and warriors. HA! If they so much as look at me the wrong way I'll smear their innards on the ground. Of course I use my magic responsibly! Duh! It's not like I go around blowing up Farmer Fool's chicken coop or anything. That's just a waste of my time and resources. The fastest way you get respect in these parts is to make people respect you, even make them FEAR you if you can. And if I can get respect and fear for myself, then the image of magic subsequently benefits. Sometimes you have to PROVE to people that magic is, in fact, deadly and powerful. Usually because they're too dumb to figure it out until it's too late. Speaking of being dumb, you wanted to know about the Crusaders. Zombie fodder. Yep. That's all they are to me. Future parts for my golems. They want a fight, I'll give them one. Now, if you'll excuse me, I was right in the middle of dissecting this kitten (stop squirming!!). Yes yes, wonderful talking to you too, GOODBYE!!!
